How it all started:
It was early 2013, my wife Cindy and I booked a quick getaway to the islands for her birthday. We had friends that had raved about a place with a weird name in the British Virgin Islands – “Jost Van Dyke”. They told us of this place, where they had a bar with soggy dollars and more weird character names like Ivan, Seddy and Foxy. They promised it was “The best beach ever”.
We have been fortunate enough and very blessed to be relatively well traveled. We have seen some of the best beaches in the world including beaches in the Philippines, Australia, Seychelles, South Africa, as well as many beautiful U.S. Destinations. We fully intended on this being “another great trip” to another beautiful destination.
That was until we first set our eyes on Jost. As we sailed into White Bay…it didn’t feel real… it couldn’t be, the water clearer then clear… bluer than blue, and the sand whiter than white. Our friend’s description did not do it any justice, it was unimaginable. On the island, we met some of the friendliest people, both from the island and those passing through. The little island with breathtaking views and its relaxed atmosphere imprinted on us both deeply.
After our trip, we were back home in Kentucky for 2 days before we booked another trip to White Bay. Since then, we have been going back every year, 2-3 times…from when we were pregnant, to taking our 4-month old son at the time back to paradise. We have many cherished memories and enjoy taking and introducing friends and family to the British Virgin Islands, especially JVD and White Bay.
In late 2016, we were fortunate enough to purchase a piece of untouched paradise, in White Bay, right beside Ivan (Ivan’s Stress Free Bar). We look forward to creating many more memories in our very own Glass House in White Bay. We can’t wait to share it with great friends and family, our kids and future grandkids. We hope to share our little secret island with your friends and family too. We invite you to make our “home away from home” yours.
