On September 6th, 2017 the brutal Category 5 Hurricane Irma reached its peak intensity over the British Virgin Islands. The island of Jost Van Dyke received some of the worst damage, leaving countless homes and businesses destroyed. When Hurricane Irma devastated the island of Jost Van Dyke, many were left with nothing. Hurricane Irma may have been 9 months ago, but it has left a lasting impression on the lives of the Jost Van Dyke residents. Ever since then it has been our goal to raise money to rebuild the island.

After Hurrican Irma, from September to December, we were able to raise $55,000 and we couldn’t have done it without the love and support of all those who’ve donated! The funds raised were used to purchase: a 40ft container of building materials including plywood, T1-11 roof sheathing, metal roofing, and respective fasteners, etc. We have already built 4 homes, our goal is to build at least 6 more.

Through the month of April, we were able to raise an additional $30,000 in funds necessary to achieve our goal! From the funds raised, we have enough donations to pay for able and qualified locals for labor to build six more homes!!! We’re never going to stop caring for the beautiful people and island of JVD and hope that the influence of the island makes you feel the same. If you’re interested in donating to JVDstrong please visit the website at jvdstrong.com, donations are always welcome.
